Where Good Ideas Come From by Steven Johnson

I found this fantastic animation by the RSA on Steven Johnsons ‘Where Good Ideas Come From’. The piece is very relevent to my final MA project, as it discusses the often intangible notion of creativity in a easy to digest manner.

Update from Berlin

Been working in EdenSpiekermann in Berlin, working on my MA Major project, along with my usual work with The Creative District… so it’s been a really busy month! As such, I’ve had very little time to update the blog.  However, should have some visuals from my MA Major Project posted this week at some stage.  In the interm, here are some pics from my German adventures.

“Should I start a Design Business?”

For some unknown reason, I frequently receive emails from design students asking me about my design practice, and in particular, whether they should start their own design company or should they work for someone elses design company. As someone who is currently doing neither, I have no idea why they email me.

Nonetheless, I have created this handy chart to help with this, and indeed other, important life decisions.

Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2011

I’m just back from 4 days at the fantastic Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2011. I was attending the fair with the Toon Brothers, for whom I had designed and illustrated some covers for their upcoming range of books for 8-10 years olds.

I also had the chance to explore (and photograph) what is one of the most beautiful cities I have visited. I will most certainly be visiting again in the near future.

Yummy foil block

Hot off the press!

Just got the Toon Bros business cards back from the printer today, complete with a yummy lime green foil block on the rear. The cards were printed on a 320gsm recycled stock. Also, their new website just went live this week after a weekend of slaving over code.
